Tell Us Your Story –

The Berkeley Historical Society (BHS)  is creating a collection of stories . . . your stories to document the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic so they can be available to the Berkeley community for current and future research and education. BHS is starting with a collection of 2020 Pandemic Volunteer Mask Making stories. Since early spring, the people of Berkeley have been volunteering to make masks for medical and support personnel, first responders, neighbors, family, and for themselves.  Whether you made masks on your own or you worked with a larger group, we welcome your participation to honor the passion of all volunteers.

While we are slowly and deliberately transitioning from the stay-at-home public health orders, we would like to keep the project simple and completely online for now.  The information will be gathered via email, and later we may contact you to see if you would also like to send a mask and any other information to update your submission.

To participate, please fill out the Information and Permissions form (check your downloads folder), save it to your computer, and then email it along with the photos to masks@berkeleyhistoricalsociety.org

NOTE:  We ask that all projects by people between 13 and 18 years of age be submitted by the parent and the Information and Permissions co-signed by the parent/guardian. For safety reasons we prefer not to have submittals by children below the age of 13 without consulting with us first.  If you have any questions, please contact us at masks@berkeleyhistoricalsociety.org.
